TRUST POWER TENNIS CENTRE @ WILDING PARK

Wilding Park Tennis Centre has been the hub of Canterbury tennis for nearly a century. Land purchased in the early 1920’s was dedicated to a tennis centre named for Frederick Wilding, father of Tony Wilding, New Zealand Wimbledon champion 1910-1913 and inductee into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Wilding Park hosts 6 indoor tennis courts and 18 outdoor plexipave courts. Wilding Park is also the only tennis facility in New Zealand to provide SmartCourt technology. SmartCourt is a valuable tool for training our elite athletes and is available for public use at a reasonable cost.

Smart Court

SmartCourt is cutting-edge AI based live-streaming and analytical sports software. Used at all of the Grand Slams, SmartCourt can referee a game and call out the score. Players can review their stroke play and compare to international players using the same technology, like Djokovic, Nadal and Halep. Wilding Park will be the first tennis facility in New Zealand to use SmartCourt, which will be used in training our elite athletes and be available for public use at a reasonable cost.

Athletes in Elite Player Pathway Programmes will have their own codes to get access through the gate, through the door, and into the gym to use all of the facilities, including the SmartCourt. The Elite Pathway Programmes adopt a holistic approach that includes strength conditioning, mental conditioning, on-court conditioning, hydration and nutrition and is designed to work with athletes who are balancing school and family commitments so they don’t become overloaded. Recovery programmes include physio and yoga provided by our onsite yoga studio.

The objective of SmartCourt is to make the tennis facility at Wilding Park sustainable long term so that it’s delivering for our tennis community an increased level of service. The developments going forward aim to provide facilities previously unavailable in New Zealand, creating a leading-edge facility for tennis players in the country and in the region.
